Mowing is the most timely lawn operation, but is an essential task not only to keep the lawn looking attractive, but when mown correctly at regular short intervals (normally once a week), grass produces side shoots called tillers, and it is the production of these tillers that creates a thick carpet of dense grass called a sward. Maintaining a healthy sward helps prevent common problems such as the build up of moss, weeds and funguses. Therefore not only is mowing essential for keeping a tidy appearance, but also for keeping the lawn looking as healthy and good as possible. The most common problem which leads to rapid destruction of the lawn is cutting to close, or shaving the lawn at irregular intervals.

Strimming

Strimmers are commonly used to cut and control areas of grass where the mower cant go, for example steep embankments exceeding 45 degrees, very uneven terrain or high meadow grass. Our larger strimmers can be fitted with metal blades to tackle large areas of bracken or heavy vegetation . Our smaller strimmers fitted with “D” shaped handles can be turned on their side and used for edging and defining the lawn or where the lawn meets a border.
